Our entry into the sugar business is dated back to the 1970s with the import and sale of sugar by our parent company, Dangote Industries Limited. Today, Dangote Sugar is a leading brand that has made a remarkable impact on the Nigerian sugar sector. Our sugar refining facility at Apapa is the largest in Sub-Saharan Africa, with 1.44MT per annum installed capacity. Our core competencies include:

Dangote Sugar is conscious of the social and economic obligations of its operations and the challenges faced by communities in the areas we operate. Thus, our sustainability approach is driven by a desire to contribute and impact positively towards the development of these communities and the society at large.
We work closely with local indigenous sugarcane farmers at Numan, Adamawa State through our established sugarcane out-grower development scheme, to improve the community farmer’s participation in the Sugar for Nigeria Project, boost their income while improving cane quality and yields at the mills. The same scheme and our robust community development projects will be implemented across all our Backward Integration Projects sites.
DSR is FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification) by SGS, FSMS (Food Safety Management System) ISO 22000:2005, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 22000:2005 and ISO OHSAS 18001:2007, certified. Our quality management system certifications and other efforts at the continuous improvement of our product quality and operational standards have made Dangote Sugar the preferred brand of most multinational corporations in the Nigerian food and beverage industry.
